It can sometimes be challenging to identify your personal style. You’re in luck! I’m here to help. Let me start with, you are not alone. Believe it or not, I too struggled with identifying my personal style. I watched videos on Youtube and read many articles on Pinterest to no avail.

I would “clear out” my closet using the 6 month rule. For those of you who do not know what the 6 month rule is; its a rule that recommends that you eliminate items from your closet if you haven’t worn them in 6 months. The problem with that is the change in seasons. I’m not going to wear what I would wear in January in June. Needless to say, that rule didn’t work for me.

Next, I “cleared out” my closed based on items that didn’t fit well or are not comfortable to wear. That was helpful but again, that didn’t help me identify my style. I just went out and bought the same items that where comfortable and in my current size.

Then one day out of the blue when I was totally frustrated with my overly filled closet of items I never used, I forced myself to stick to the following “rules” I set for myself:

Pick 1 color pallet
Pick 2 prints
Pick a style and stick with it!

Once I followed these strict rules, I figured it out. I feel my best when I wear whimsical, subtle flower patterns in pastel colors in the Spring and Summer. I enjoy cozy solid color pieces in my color pallet in the colder months. For my colors, I chose a neutral color pallet. Neutral to me can mean something very different to someone else. For me, neutral is beige, pink and white with hints of light blue. Neutrals can also mean black, white and beige or cream, brown and camel.

Once I figured out my personal style, I would “kill two birds with one stone” as they say, and only purchase clothing of good quality without breaking the bank. After all, your girl isn’t rich. This frame of thought would force me to wear what I do have in my closet.

I can tell you with certainty, I am much happier with my wardrobe and I always look put together. The only things I concern myself with when getting dressed is:

What will I being doing today?
What is the weather like today?

My clothes always match because they are in the same color pallet. The patterns I have chosen are subtle and elegant. I also get complements because my style fits my personality. I feel more confident when I feel like I look put together.

I hope this helps you figure out your personal style. If you have any questions, I am only an email away.
